Quiet Leader: What you can learn from the power of introverts

  • The Market Tavern 7 Shepherd Street London, England, W1J 7HR United Kingdom (map)

You don't have to be loud to be a good leader. Up to 50% of people are introverts, yet traditional leadership theory focuses on how to "fix" introversion so you can be a better leader. But what if being an introvert was the thing that made you better?

In her book Quiet Leader, our next guest Sissel Heiberg helps introverts understand the unique value they add to their organisations, be proud of the skills they have, while understanding the extrovert bias they often encounter. She also helps extroverts find ways to enhance their own performance by learning from introverts’ natural skills and gain insights into the benefits of neurodiversity - all backed by peer-reviewed research.

Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, at the upcoming event, Sissel will help us understand how to become better leaders and create more inclusive cultures, without changing our personality.

Sissel Heiberg is a former financial services senior director, who spent the last 10 years at global investment bank Deutsche Bank before departing in 2024. The same year she founded sensory jewellery company Foss & Bjørn, producing fidget and stimming jewellery for women and teenage girls with autism, ADHD and other sensory sensitivities, combining fashion with function and ensuring fidget tools no longer have to be hidden away. As a Non-Executive Director, she promotes neurodiverse and inclusive workplaces. She wrote Quiet Leader, published internationally by Pearson Education in 2024 and reaching #5 on the UK non-fiction chart, to encourage more open conversations about an often forgotten dimension of what enables high performance in teams. A full overview of her publications, including guest articles, is included on her website sisselheiberg.com.

A note to our male supporters

This event is being arranged for women in London to meet and network. We love that we have male allies who want to be involved (and we'd love to hear from you about any ideas you have for that). However, this event is strictly for women.
